Mary Moynihan at the Art and Civil Society Talks

Mary Moynihan, Smashing Times, presents at the Art and Civil Society Talks, Limerick School of Art and Design, in partnership with Create

 

Mary Moynihan, Artistic Director, Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Human Rights, and Lecturer, DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama,  is delighted to be presenting a talk on her work and practice  for the Autumn lecture series of Art and Civil Society talks presented by Create in partnership with Limerick School of Art and Design, Limerick Institute of Technology,  as part of its MA SPACE – MA in Social Practice and the Creative Environment programme. The talk takes place on Wednesday 10 October 2018, from 1.30 to 2.30pm at the Clare Street Campus, Limerick and is open to the public, all welcome.

Mary will speak about her  work and practice as a writer, theatre and film maker and her role as Artistic Director of the Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Human Rights with reference to the role of interdisciplinary arts practice in civil society and connections between the arts, human rights, peace building, gender equality and women’s stories in history and today.

The talks aim to encourage debate on the role of the arts in civil society and examine intersections between art and the socio-political. The Art and Civil Society talks also aim to build capacity to connect emerging arts practice to society and facilitate a broader understanding of societal issues and how they inform and impact on collaborative arts practice.

The session is an hour long and is open to the public.
